Firsts

Rene's Mom got Lilly a beautiful set of baby silver. It has a spoon for her first frijoles and a fork for her first carne asada. It also has a little container for her first tooth and one that says "My First Curl." We figured that it was pretty likely that she would have curls considering that her Daddy has really curly hair and that I was covered in ringlets when I was her age. But, no dice. As it turns out, the container should say, "My First Mullet" because that is what is going in there. I finally broke down and let Rene cut off her mullet. Although it was a great source of laughter for us and friends, it wasn't very becoming on a baby girl. She no longer has a "business in the front, party in the back" hairdo. Thank goodness. We wouldn't want her getting mistaken for a honky tonk's kid.

Also, we think she experienced her first real California earthquake this morning. She was cool, calm and collected.


Por Primera Vez

La mamá de René le compró a Lilly un jueguito de plata divino. Tiene una cuchara para su primeros frijoles, y un tenedor para su primera carne asada. Tiene un contenedor para su primer diente, y hasta uno que dice mi primer rizo. Pensábamos con seguridad que tuviese pelo colocho, considerando que su papá tiene pelo bien colocho, y que yo tenia colochos grandes cuando tenia su misma edad. Pero ni por cerca. Vino a ser que el contenedor debe decir “melena” (un estílo de pelo como el de la fota arriba) porque eso es lo que tiene Lilly. Al fin me rendí y dejé que Rene le cortara la melena. Aunque nos carcajiábamos con nuestros amigos sobre la melena, no se ve bien en una bebita. Así que ya no tiene pelo “serio por enfrente, con una fiesta por detrás”. Gracias a dios, no quisieramos que la confundieran con niña de güeros bajeros.

Pensamos que sintió su primer temblor Californiano esta mañana. Se porto muy bien, calmada y serena.
